I'm thinking of learning to knit to make a gift for a friend's new baby, and I'd like to try a hat like this (that way if I turn out to be an awful knitter, I can stop after the basic hat and forget about the earflaps, though I'd love to include them). I'm sure it'd be totally oboxious to ask you to write up your pattern, but is there any chance you know of a good pattern for the basic hat that you could link me to?
