Its not my first soaker, but it is the first I have made in years. The last one was when my Anja was a wee babe. She’s in Year 1 at school now. :::sheds tear:::
Pure wool DK Weight dyed by me. Not sure how it looks on your screen, but on mine it seems a bit brighter than in reality. It is a very subtle variagation of pinks, oranges, yellow and white. Very sweet. It makes me think of a sweet little flower petal. Perfect to make a soaker for a new little blossom baby.

And some days just suck.
Not sure what type of day today is yet, but yesterday was rough. The weather has been quite nice these past few days which is like a gift from the heavens to me. But of course it can’t last forever and yesterday I knew a change was coming. The weather forecast said “dry and sunny” but I knew they were wrong. My body told a different story. I could tell we were in for something big. Last night as the lightning cracked, the thunder rumbled, and the rain poured I contemplated that maybe I should reconsider my profession. I could hire myself out to the weather channel as an expert resource. What do you think? Only problem is that if I ever were lucky enough to get a handle on this mess of an illness I would do myself out of a job. … Now there’s a dilemma I could get into!
So yes, this is a whiny post. I deserve to whine every now and then don’t I? I go on call for 2 births starting tomorrow. Clients due on the 27th and the 2nd. Days like yesterday and today worry me though. I can’t take the heavy duty pain meds when on call for obvious reasons but then it becomes a matter of whether or not I can physically deal with attending a labor. One of those catch-22 things I guess. And a great motivator to keep searching for an answer.I know there has to be one.

It was supposed to be my grand vacation project, but as luck would have it, I was too busy enjoying my holiday to get much work done. But here it is nonetheless. My Norwegian Shawl in progress. This sucker goes on forever! Starting out with 568 stitches, working in lace weight (which I have double stranded)….
I will be lucky to get it done by next spring, but it will be well worth it I am sure!
Yarn is a wool silk blend in a light heathered grey/green and darker heathered blueish color. It reminds me of sage and juniper. So pretty.

We arrived home late Saturday night from 23 days camping, hosteling, and visiting relatives. We started out from our home in SE England and over 2500 miles later, we had spent time in Germany,Swizterland, Italy and Belgium and drove through France and The Netherlands in the course of it all. Phew!
The best news is that we all had wonderful time. There was literally something for everyone in each place we went. It was no Brady Bunch adventure but it was no Simpsons either. (Southpark….maybe)
My family rocks.
We took hundreds of photos, so sorting through the winners and losers will take some time, but as soon as they are ready, anyone who has nothing better to do can see them. I am loving our new camera and am eager to get busy taking pics of my work. Focus is a marvelous thing.
So for now you can see the picture above, which was taken by Anja. (yes, she is 5 years old) It is at the Bridge of Love in Cinque Terre (Vernazza). I overheard a very enthusiatic tour guide tell their group that lore says if you have your picture taken there with someone you will be together for all time. I don’t know if it is true or if it is just tour-guide trivia, but not ones to miss a chance at stacking the odds, Axel and I enlisted Anja to snap a quick shot of mommy and daddy. That girls has a great eye!
